What does it say about this election that the candidates are so aggressively vilifying each other? How does calling your opponent a traitor serve the nation?
If leaders are formed, principles are tested, and integrity is evaluated in moments of stress, what does this say about the candidates when they are behaving as they are now? At this moment, they're playing for the smallest stakes one of them will play with for at least the next four years. Once elected, the stakes are orders of magnitude greater...
I wish there was a way to ask both candidates about this in a public, unedited forum. I would word the question as follows:
"What does your behavior, that of your running mate, and that of the public face (spin, ads, etc.) of your campaign say about your morals, ideals, and integrity? What does it say about what and who you will be if you become president? What does it say about the America that you will help shape?"
